 Online business directories are web pages that contain information about your company and location which are usually categorized by business type.  An example of this is Google Places.  Directories usually have a free membership along with providing a premium membership option that gives you access to further marketing opportunities. 

It is much more than just adding your company name and address to the directory site if you want to help get your company found.  It is about making sure you select the right keywords, utilize all of the space provided to tell about your company and products/services. It is important that you list your website as well, as that will help build traffic to your website.

Just as with social media, it about choosing the right online business directories to list your business.  Make sure you have listings in those directories that serve you your prospect base, whether that is local, regional, national, or international.
